Artist Holly Holmquist spent six years navigating the healthcare system when an acute illness turned into a chronic one, without end in sight.

PATIENT is a visual exploration of that experience. Her ongoing project illuminates the complexities of obtaining diagnosis and care when stricken by an understudied, unprioritized illness. The series touches on themes of health and mortality, beauty and grief, with occasional moments of levity.
